Just hatched this baby loon!
Adding texture to the wing section of this basswood loon carving. I’m loving the ripples in the raking light.
Completed the loon carving, and it is now available for purchase in the Ninth Wave Designs web store - 🔗 can be found in my profile.
I’m excited to share that I have created this 5 minute knowledge hack for @uptime.app called “Getting Started in Wood Carving: Choosing the Right Tools”. It gives a brief overview of the challenges and then provides a list of the 12 tools that are a great starting point for the beginning wood carver. The app charges a monthly fee but if you sign up you get 3 days of free use and access to all the hacks. I have a link in my bio 🔗🌳. Let me know what you think!
Happy #caturday from Elliot and his hand carved pet portrait! 😺❤️🐈‍⬛
Finished up the carving of the loon, which is ready now for it’s painted finish!
I finished the painted loon over the weekend - what do you think? This is the first of two loon projects I’m making based on the same design - one painted and one carved. This will be available for purchase, DM if interested. Next up is the carved version - see my previous reel to see how it is coming along.
Working on cleaning up the spirals on this loon carving - hoping to have this finished this weekend!
Same design, two different mediums - watercolor painting and painted wood carving. Which one will you like best?
