The letters are adapted from a 16th century alchemist's alphabet - designed to keep his alchemical writing secret. Sometimes I use the alphabet as a simple substitution - so "a" equals "a" in the alchemical alphabet. But sometimes I use the wheel you saw to mix things up a little more so that it is more of a challenge to decipher. Thanks for your comment!
